Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas says his Government will continue to seek ways to unite the people of the State,and provide peace and security for development to thrive.
The Governor was speaking at the Nwonyo International fishing festival which held in Ibi Local Government Area, in southern Taraba State.
After fourteen years, the Taraba State Government revived the fishing festival, with a purpose of uniting the people, and reawakening the State’s tourism sector.
Taraba state Governor Agbu Kefas says history must be used to unite Taraba people, and calls on citizens to play their part in maintaining peace and security.
Elder statesman Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retired) adds that Nigerians must maintain peace and security to attract investors.
The second day of the fishing festival featured fishing competition, with the biggest fish caught weighing 170kgms,winners of various competitions were presented with gifts.
The last time the festival was celebrated in 2010, the largest fish caught weighed 230kgs.
Though the festival holds in Ibi Local Government Area, it brings people and cultures from various ethnic groups, providing an entertaining way for the over eighty ethnic groups in Taraba State to unite.
