Nigerian Navy Relocates Training Command Headquarters From Lagos To Rivers State

The Nigerian Navy has relocated the headquarters of its training command from Lagos to Rivers State

Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla said the decision to relocate the training Command headquarters to a more spacious facility in the oil and gas rich state was taken in the best interest of the service, adding that the move will increase human capacity development as well as strengthen the Navy’s capacity to deal with oil theft, illegal oil bunkering, sea piracy, and other maritime crimes.

Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara was on ground at Ebubu community in Eleme local government area to inaugurate the new headquarters of the Nigerian Navy Command

The journey began in April 2023 when the Rivers State Government donated the dilapidate structures of an abandoned model secondary school to the Nigerian Navy for its use.

The Nigerian Navy Training Command has the mandate to develop and train navy personnel on the core professional mission and operational requirements of a modern navy.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, noted that the service has achieved a major milestone with the new facility, prompting the call on other states to emulate the gesture of the Rivers State Government.

Governor Sim Fubara said his administration will continue to give the Navy and other security agencies the support they need to combat crime and safeguard lives and property.

The governor also wants the Nigerian Navy to provide security and development support to the host community and live in peace and harmony with the civilian population
