Army Chief calls for physical leadership training in operations, to combat insecurity

The General Officer Commanding, GOC, 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Danjuma Ali-Keffi says, the current security challenges in the country, requires the need for the army, to continuously reinvigorate training and operations, especially in the aspects of physical and leadership training.

The GOC who was speaking at the opening ceremony of the Inter-brigade Corporals And Below competition being held in Kano, said that it is important for the army to adequately train, to ensure optimal performance, at all times.

Major General Danjuma Ali-Keffi said that the event could not have come at a better time than now, when there are growing concerns, on the numerous challenges confronting the nation.

He said that the exercise will help to keep the officers and soldiers fit.

The Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Kaduna Major General, Kabiru Mukhtar, who declared the events opened, charged the participants to put in their best.

The five-day competition is between 1 Division Garrison Kaduna, 3 Brigade Army Kano, And 31 Artillery Brigade, Minna.

Areas of competition include half marathon, drill, combat swimming, skill on arms and shooting, map reading and obstacle crossing.
