The Federal government has started the demolition of structures on the right of way of the 700-kilometre Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, from the Mami Chula Beach, Oniru waterfront end.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, says that the exercise is to allow for the continuation of construction work on the road. He reassured that compensations for those affected by the ongoing demolition exercise which is ongoing will be completed next week.

The Minster who inspected kilometres 13, 16 and 20 of the road, directed that Landmark Beach be shut down.
Umahi while giving further assurance to those affected by the demolition exercise said he will be in Lagos all through the week to address all payment issues that may arise regarding the demolition for affected residents.
He also gave insights on the benefits of the road in the years ahead when the project is fully completed.
