Boko Haram kills 7 people, displaces 5000 in Adamawa State

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have attacked Kwapre village in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, North-East Nigeria.

Seven persons have been confirmed dead, with 5,000 villagers displaced and some persons abducted.

Kwapre village is on the border between Adamawa and Borno States. Its proximity to the Sambisa Forest has made the village to come under attack in the past.

Confirming the attack, the Executive Secretary of Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, Muhammed Sulaiman, said the insurgents came in 9 vehicles, surrounded the village and killed 7 people, including 3 children.

He added that houses, worship centres, markets and schools were burnt.

Many other people, including women, children and youths, were kidnapped by the terrorists.

He also revealed that 7 persons among the kidnapped victims escaped.

The displaced persons are currently seeking refuge in neighbouring villages.

The State’s Emergency Management Agency says, it is liaising with the North-East Development Commission, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, and other agencies, to provide relief for the victims.
