The Federal Government has been called upon to sit down on a round table with the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, to urgently end the industrial action embarked by the union recently.

The National President of the Association of Polytechnic Students, Comrade Sunday Asuquo made the call while speaking with newsmen in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, about the ongoing strike of the academic staff Union of the Polytechnics.

Comrade Asuquo lamented that the students had just resumed school after months of lockdown, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and turning them back home will not do them any good and the nation at large.

The students also want the government to rescue, unhurt, the remaining abducted students of the College of Forestry and Mechanization, Afaka, in Kaduna State, in the next one week.

The students say, they might be compelled to block the major roads, until the 39 students are all rescued.

They are also asking government officials to put themselves in the shoes of the parents of the victims, especially the agony, trauma and psychological imbalance they have been going through, as a result of the terrible incident.

The student body challenged the government at all levels to wake up to their responsibilities of protecting citizens and their property, as well as provide a safe environment for students to learn.
