Enugu State Government is taking action to breathe new life into key assets, with plans to revive Hotel Presidential, a historic hospitality facility in the state capital.

Originally built in 1963 during the tenure of Dr. Michael Okpara as Premier of defunct Eastern Region, the hotel has been dormant for years.

The decision to rejuvenate the hotel was reached during the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Peter Mbah at the weekend.

Commissioner for Information and Communications, Aka Eze Aka, along with his counterpart from the Culture and Tourism Ministry, Ugochi Madueke, briefed journalists on the development.

They also disclosed plans to finalise agreements for the revival of state-owned Nigergas Company Limited.

Highlighting the necessity for the revitalisation of Nigergas Company Limited, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Enugu State Investment Development Authority, Sam Ogbu-Nwobodo, cited the increasing demand for medical oxygen and industrial gas nationwide.

He hinted that the move was part of a broader strategy to revive other dormant state-owned enterprises, including Niger Steel Ltd., Sunrise Flour Mills, and the Aluminum Smelting Company at Ohebe Dim.
