The Assistant Controller of at the Niger State Correctional Centre Minna, Abdulrahamam Gegele, kidnapped along the Ilorin-Minna road on April 17, has regained his freedom.
A statement by the spokesman of the centre, Chief Superintendent of Corrections, Rabiu Shuaibu says Gegele regained his freedom on Wednesday morning after spending 2 weeks in the kidnapper’s den.

According to the statement, the “senior officer was able to escape in a bold move, when the military engaged the terrorists in a heavy gun duel, at their camp within a forest around the Kontagora axis on Sunday, April 28.”
Gegele’s abductors demanded a ransom of 25 million Naira when they made contact with the family, a day after he was kidnapped.
