The Police say no fewer than 3,000 criminals were arrested and prosecuted for various offences in Kano State, North-West Nigeria last year.
State Commissioner of Police, CP Usaini Gumel, disclosed this while briefing the media on the achievements of his Command in the last 365 days.
He said the criminals were prosecuted in connection with kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery, human trafficking, illicit drug dealings and thuggery.
He noted that, under the Inspector-General of Police Safe Schools Initiative, aimed at improving the security of lives and property, especially the safety of schools and students, the Command launched the Schools Protection Squad, SPS, to provide adequate security to all schools across the state, especially along the borders with other states.
