James Francis and Patience Dalyop, both from Plateau State, have won the men and women titles at the Enugu State Half Marathon held in Enugu city on Saturday.
The marathon offered road race lovers a thrilling display of athletic prowess.
The marathon race commenced with a brief flag-off event by the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, at about 7:30 in the morning, which set the stage for the competition.
Over 100 athletes from 15 States of Nigeria participated, traversing designated city roads and parks, covering over 21 kilometers.
After one hour and eleven minutes, 17-year-old James Francis from Plateau State in the North Central region, emerged as the male category winner.
Fifteen minutes later, 20-year-old Patience Dalyop, from same Plateau State and winner of the recent Abuja Marathon, secured the female champion title.
The excitement extended beyond the half marathon, the road race also witnessed enthusiastic participation, including that of the State Governor, Peter Mbah, who covered a significant distance.
