Governor Bassey Otu appears to have set up a bold vision to revolutionise the security architecture of Cross River State in South-South Nigeria, through the strategic integration of Artificial Intelligence, AI.

In an announcement during a high-profile meeting with members of Syndicate 4, from the National Institute of Security Studies, NISS, Executive Intelligence Management Course 17, Governor Otu unveiled an ambitious AI initiative aimed at redefining how security challenges were to be tackled in the state.

The initiative if implemented may mark a decisive departure from conventional approaches, with Cross River State moving towards a future-driven strategy to confront the complex landscape of modern security threats.

Under Governor Otu, the former Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, established by the administration of former Governor Ben Ayade, has undergone a strategic overhaul.

Emphasising the pivotal role of intelligence gathering in pre-empting security threats, Governor Otu outlined a comprehensive strategy to deploy AI technologies in targeted areas, including surveillance of solid mineral sites and pre-emptive threats detection in vulnerable zones.

Led by Evelyn Kwasau, the NISS team demonstrated unwavering dedication to contributing actionable insights aimed at fortifying Cross River State’s security framework.
