A two-day zonal public hearing on the review of the 1999 Constitution has ended in Akure, Ondo State capital, with an assurance that the amended constitution will be ready before the 2023 general election.
While various groups made their submissions, members of the Constitution Review Committee assured that all memoranda will be critically looked into.

Issues ranging from free education for primary and secondary school students, the establishment of local and state police, and equitable women representation in government took centre stage.
At the end of the public hearing, participants expressed hope that if most of the recommendations are considered, it will go a long way in addressing the high level of insecurity in Nigeria.
