Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has lauded the verdict of the Supreme Court on the certificate forgery case brought against him by the All Progressives Congress, APC, during the 2020 governorship election, saying it is a vindication of the decision of God and the people of the State.

Governor Obaseki said the ruling puts to rest the diabolical controversy contrived by opposition elements over his credentials.

He said the Supreme Court verdict has shamed those who sought to swindle Edo people with falsehood and lies in pursuit of pecuniary gains.

Obaseki said the judiciary has again shown it has the capacity to defend Nigeria’s democracy.

He said the statement by the Supreme Court Justices aligns perfectly with what the Edo people knew all along.

The Governor said the Supreme Court had only exposed the diabolical and ill-willed controversy on the election victory freely given to him by the good people of Edo State.

Obaseki said it is reassuring that the judiciary has upheld the wishes of the masses once again.

He thanked his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for being steadfast to the vision of the party for a better Edo and extended same gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for ensuring a vibrant and fair judiciary that can uphold the will of the masses.
