The Police in Zamfara State have apprehended 15 suspects in connection with the violent protest where youths blocked the Kaura Namoda – Gusau road, demanding protection against bandits.

The police said the suspects were arrested at the scene, in possession of four fabricated guns, one cutlass, one catapult, three plugs, used for the locally fabricated guns, six operational motorcycles, and charms.

The Commissioner of Police, Hussain Rabiu, stated this while addressing newsmen at the command’s Headquarters, over last Monday’s protest, staged by some youths on Kaura Namoda -Gusau road.

Rabiu also warned that the police under his watch, will not tolerate attempts by conflict entrepreneurs to sabotage the efforts of security agencies, to restore peace and stability in the state.

He called on parents and guardians to take proper control of their children, against being recruited by people he described as, conflict entrepreneurs.

The Zamfara Police boss alleged that the protest was organized by conflict entrepreneurs, recruiting unpatriotic citizens from Kurya Madaro, and Maguru District in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State to undermine the efforts of the security agencies and state government against banditry and other criminal elements in the state.

The Police Commissioner said the police is conducting a discreet investigation, using the suspects arrested, and other intelligence-gathering assets, to fish out the organizers and their collaborators.

Rabiu assured that all those involved in the said protest would be charge to court upon their arrest to serve as deterrent to others.
