President Buhari says the Federal Government has in last 2 years lifted 10.5 million people out of poverty in the country. These include farmers, small scale traders, artisans and market women.

He is optimistic that with the achievement so far the target of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty is still achievable. He also said Nigeria now has its National Social Register for the vulnerable and poor people captured in 86,610 communities across the 774 LGAs in the country.

President Buhari made this known in his national broadcast to mark Nigeria’s 2021 Democracy Day which he described as “celebration of freedom and victory for one people and one country”.

He however expressed concern that Nigeria is now facing security challenges that manifest in attacks on national assets. He condoles families of security operatives and victims of banditry who lost their lives in the deadly attacks and abductions nationwide.

President Buhari explained that the degraded Boko Haram terrorists in the North-East are now the bandits scattered across the country but that the government will also bring an end to their deadly activities.
