Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, has reiterated his commitment towards delivering affordable healthcare for the people of the state.
The Governor, who spoke in Abakaliki at the flag-off of the State Health Insurance Scheme and the Basic Health Care Provision Fund, said that the programmes are in line with the universal health coverage of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Available information indicated that both programmes are efforts of the Nigerian governments in concert with development partners, aimed at increasing access to affordable primary healthcare for all Nigerians, especially those at the grassroots levels.
The Ebonyi State Governor disclosed that as of June 2021, about 19,160 vulnerable persons across the 171 political wards of the state have been enrolled in the vulnerable health insurance programme, while their validation is ongoing.
Governor Umahi also revealed that the state government is partnering with all relevant stakeholders in the State and at the Federal level to ensure well-equipped, functional, and responsive primary health centres across the state.
