Nasarawa State Governor , Abdullahi Sule has commended the federal government’s support for displaced persons in the state who were affected by a recent wind storm
Governor Sule gave the commendation in lafia when the National Commission For Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) started the distribution of relief materials to 1000 beneficiaries affected by a natural disaster
The rainy season for many is usually a blessing as it brings a change from the regular hot weather conditions.
For some persons living in Nasarawa state, rains with windstorms destroyed their houses and other valuables that left them in despair.
Aware of this development, The National commission for Refugees, visited Nasarawa to distribute relief materials to affected persons.
The state Governor is particularly appreciative of the Federal Commissioner of the commission for the move and his decision to construct skills acquisition centres across the six geopolitical zones of the country to provide IDPs with skills for self-reliance.
Governor Sule noted that the initiative by the NCFRMI, Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs and support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for natural disaster victims will help in giving hope to victims
For the Federal Commissioner, National Commission For Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Tijani Aliyu Ahmed the flag off for distribution of relief materials to IDPs in the state also captures those affected by communal clashes.

He disclosed that the Commission is establishing skills acquisition centres across the six geopolitical zones, in line with its skills-to-wealth strategic initiative.
Earlier, the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Special Duties on Humanitarian Affairs and NGOs, Margret Elayo, highlighted the efforts of the state government in taking prompt steps to provide succour to displaced persons.
She also added that plans are underway to also cushion the effects of the recent windstorm across all the affected communities.
