Imo State Police Command has confirmed that six people died in Saturday night’s accident at the busy Imo State University junction in Owerri.
Confirming the ugly incident to AIT crew, the command’s public relations officer Henry Okoye said several others were seriously injured and are currently getting medical attention in several hospitals within Owerri.

Some eyewitnesses at the scene of the accident said a truck loaded with chippings failed break, swerved to the opposite lane and rammed into five shuttle buses loaded with passengers.
According to the PPRO, efforts are in progress to contact the families of the deceased and injured victims and also apprehend the driver of the truck who immediately fled the scene after the accident.
