Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma has described as sad and unfortunate the ghastly road accident that claimed lives at the Imo State University, IMSU junction, Owerri over the weekend.
The Governor spoke through his Deputy, Lady Chinyere Ekomalu, while on a sympathy visit to the family of the affected victim.
Uzodimma promised that the State government will offset the bill of those currently receiving treatment at the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Owerri, while pledging support to the deceased family.

The Governor says, though a preliminary report linked the accident to a truck that had brake failure, government has ordered for a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances that led to the incident in order to prevent a recurrence.
The Chief Medical Director of the Teaching Hospital, Kingsley Achigwu gives an update, saying 9 persons are currently receiving treatment at the facility.
The State government is however appealing to the public to be patient as it will get to the root of the matter, and ensure that the law takes its course.
