President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem has called for review or total removal of some sections of the Constitution and Electoral Act.

The call was made during a two-day workshop held in Abuja to review the 2023 Election Petitions Tribunals.

On February 25, 2023, Nigerians trooped out in their millions to choose a President and members of their National Assembly. The enthusiasm was high but the adjudication of the election matters came with various challenges that have to be critically accessed.

At the workshop that was declared open by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, he harped on the need to maintain the integrity of the Judiciary.

President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem said aside the fact that 99 panels were set up for the Election Petitions Tribunals, some sections of the constitution need to be repealed. For the Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi the next elections should be properly guided.

The two-day workshop offers judicial officers the opportunity to review actions that may not have been taken intentionally and to proffer solutions for future purposes.
