They say since the incident occurred, the oil company has been trying to carry out investigations without involving relevant agencies and the community at large.

They also attribute oil spill to equipment failure rather than sabotage as alleged in some quarters and appealed to government and the Shell Petroleum Development Company to urgently come to their aid
Agba Okwan Asarama in Andoni local government area is a predominantly fishing community, but the crude oil spillage from Shell’s TNP line three on May 11 2024 has polluted and contaminated their fishing gears and other means of livelihood.

Paramount ruler of Atta Obolo Agba Okwan Asarama community, Daniel Erumumbuban says the incident had been a recurring experience in their locality without any form of interface and compensation from the SPDC and no joint investigations had been carried out for verification of the causes of the frequent spillage.
