The European Union (EU) and the United Nations have deployed over $500 million euros to the fight against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) among women and girls globally.
The EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Samuela Isopi who made the disclosure says no commitment will be too much to fight the social malaise.

Isopi made the declaration at the presentation of a United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) feature film on gender based violence.
The film, with the title, “Deafening Silence”, was produced to create awareness on the ills of SGBV and Violence against women and girls (VAWG) in Nigeria.

Isopi said the Spotlight Initiative, a global “alliance” with the European Union, launched the partnership with UN in 2018 with the aim of putting an end to gender-based violence following its prevalence around the corners of the world.
One of the concerns of a UNDP official Elsie Attafuah is the culture of silence in the midst of atrocity against women
The concensus among those present is for the global village to go beyond gender violence and Kickstart a new crusade that will address Economic deprivation of Women especially in Africa.
