Using the security agencies to intimidate the people of Kano state over emir stool poses grave dangers to the nation’s democracy.

This is coming from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, the ruling party in Kano state.

The party in a statement by the national publicity secretary, Ladipo Johnson says it condemns the on -going siege on Kano State especially, the Palace of the Emir of Kano by soldiers and other security agents.

He described the situation as a show of shame and a threat to the democracy which some Nigerians shed their blood to enthrone.

He said the party’s position followed claims by the Deputy Governor of Kano state, Abdussalam Gwarzo, that the former Emir was brought to Kano on Friday surrounded by soldiers through the office of a highly placed government official from Abuja.

NNPP says Nigerians were embarrassed early Saturday morning to see the deployment of soldiers and other security agents around the vicinity of the Emir of Kano’s Palace, in what seems like plan to overturn the law restoring lost glory of the Kano State Emirate Council.
