Suspected Gunmen Kill Three In Ebonyi

Reports from a rural community in Ebonyi State, South East Nigeria, say, suspected gunmen numbering about 4 Saturday evening, killing three persons including.a woman.

The gunmen reportedly attacked the victim’s at Akpoha community on the Afikpo/Amasiri axis of the Abakaliki/ Afikpo highway.

According to Eyewitness account, the suspected Gunmen operated with two motorcycles, with sophisticated Ak47 rifles.

Though AIT cannot independently confirm the identities of the victims, but local sources gave their names as; Egwu Nicholas Nwocha, Emmanuel Nwocha said to be a member of the defunct Ebubeagu security outfit, and INYA Blessing Orieoma, a petty female trader in the area.

Some others were within the scene of the incident, were reported to have sustained varying degrees of gunshot injuries during the attack.

The Ebonyi State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu when contacted, confirmed the incident to AIT, saying their personnel are on the trail to apprehend the assailants.

” three persons were killed and their body have been deposited at the morgue. But the place is calm now, our men are on the trail of the assailants”
