ATIKU
Ex-Vice President and former PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar

Former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, wants the government to show sincere leadership in dealing with climate change crises.

Atiku spoke at a school children poetry performance in Abuja, which depicted the negative effects of the poor handling of climate crisis in the country.

The performance captures the challenges Nigeria is facing in the climate crisis with rising temperatures, leading to heat waves, poor human health, and low agricultural productivity.

The poetry performance also tells the fact that climate change is responsible for changing rainfall patterns, leading to flooding, landslides, and droughts, as well as desertification, sea level rise, water scarcity, food insecurity, and social impacts, which result to migrations, displacements, and social unrests, particularly in vulnerable communities.

Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, who watched the one hour school children’s poetry performance, wants the current government to show sincere leadership in dealing with the climate crisis to save future generations.

For these children, the various climate action committees of the government, must work in synergy to ensure the country’s environment remains safer for even children yet unborn.
