A confirmed report from Kogi State indicate that two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded and several others escaped with bullet wounds when a Police patrol team in collaboration with some Fulani Vigilantes launched an attack on the hideout of some armed hoodlums at the Ankumi forests, in Obajana area of Kogi State.

A statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kogi State Command, SP William Aya, said the Divisional Police Officer of Obajana Division, CSP Oguche Richard, had mobilized his patrol team in collaboration with the Fulani Vigilantes who moved to the thick vast forest upon a tip off.

The statement further explained that on sighting the security team, the suspected hoodlums opened fire on them, for which the joint security responded with superior firepower.

Accordingly, due to the counter attack, two of the suspects were fatally wounded while others escaped with bullet wounds, the statement added.

The Police Public Relations Officer listed items recovered from the suspects to include; one AK 47 Rifle with two magazines and two live Ammunition.

The Police said operations are still on-going to trail and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The statement noted that the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Bertrand Onuoha, has commended the Officers for their doggedness, commitment and dedication to sustaining the tempo in the ongoing onslaught against crime and criminality across the State.

The police commissioner assured the people of the State that the Police remained determined to sustain the existing synergy with other Security Agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property in Kogi State.
