Some aggrieved supporters of eight suspended members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have taken to the streets, to stage a peaceful protest against the suspension of their members from the state assembly.
The aggrieved people of the constituencies described the suspension as callous to the electorate, urging the Assembly to tow the path of justice and return their representatives to continue with their lawful representation at the State Assembly.
Addressing journalists during the protest at the State House of Assembly, the team leader of the aggrieved constituents, Saifullahi Abdullahi, described the suspension of their eight members by the Zamfara State House of Assembly, under the leadership of the Speaker, Bilyaminu Moriki, as undemocratic.
The protesters decried that their elected representatives had been suspended for the past four months, saying the action was hindering development in their respective constituencies.
They are appealing to Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal to intervene for the immediate reinstatement of their suspended lawmakers.
The affected eight members are from Maru, Bungudu, Bukkuyum, Gummi, Maradun, Tsafe, Bakura, and Talata Mafara Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.
The members were suspended for allegedly sitting without the Speaker, Bilyaminu Moriki.
