Niger State Governor, Umar Bago has approved with immediate effect the sum of 25 billion naira for the payment of pension and gratuities owed retired civil servants in the state.
Governor Bago disclosed this during the commissioning of 200 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Buses, 50 security vehicles, 50 calibrated trucks for refuse disposal and 50 transformers.
The commissioning formed part of activities to mark his first anniversary in office.
The governor said his administration remains committed to the welfare of the people.
He also announced the approval of the promotion of any civil servant due for it with immediate effect as well as payment of outstanding gratuities and pensions.
On how the CNG buses would refill gas, Bago said interim arrangements had been made pending the establishment of refilling plants across the state in collaboration with NNPCL.
