Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno has ordered all portions of the 82 hectare land acquired for the Tropicana Entertainment Centre to be reclaimed as he moves to complete the abandoned project.
Governor Eno gave the order during an inspection of the project site in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The Tropicana Entertainment Centre was one of the flagship projects of the Godswill Akpabio administration, comprising a cineplex , shopping malls, a hotel, convention centre and a wet and dry park.
Several years on, the Centre had been abandoned with only the cineplex and shopping malls completed.
Governor Umo Eno wants the narrative to end as he desires to complete the project after an inspection visit at the premises.
The Governor, who is passionate about developing the tourism sector in Akwa Ibom State, pointed out that there is no need to duplicate what is on ground, directing that adequate security to be maintained at the complex.
