Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang says he is a firm believer in the local government system and will ensure credible elections are held at that level.
He made this comment during the swearing-in of the Chairman and members of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission, PLASIEC.
The Governor also says he believes that the local government system and the people should determine who leads them.
Local government elections held in Plateau in the past eight years were marred by controversies leading to criticisms of how PLASIEC handled the exercises. It appears, Governor Mutfwang is determined to change the narrative towards ensuring a hitch free local government elections in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in members of the Commission, the Chairman, Plangji Cishak, said they are committed to redeeming the image of the election management body
The newly inaugurated Commission is made up of eight members who are seasoned professionals with experience in electioneering.
