As Nigeria marks 25 years of uninterrupted return to democracy, the wife of Niger State Governor, Fatima Bago, is using the medium to advocate for women’s empowerment, to drive inclusive growth, uphold and strengthen our democracy.
In a statement by her Press Secretary, Hadiza Maikano, the governor’s wife also called for unity, as the country celebrates Democracy Day.
According to the statement, Bago says this day reminds us of the invaluable principles, upon which our nation was founded.
It is a day to honour the sacrifices of our forebearers, who fought tirelessly to secure our democratic freedoms and rights.
The wife of the governor emphasised the vital role that each citizen plays, and calls upon all, especially women and youths, to actively participate in shaping the democratic landscape of our society.
She called on women to amplify their voices and reaffirm their commitment to empowering themselves through hard work, and ensuring that their rights and freedoms are protected and respected.
Bago further called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in their prayers, and hopeful, regardless of the hard times being experienced.
