The United States has called for initial proposals as part of its Global Partnership for Climate-Smart Infrastructure to support the development of clean energy and transportation infrastructure projects in developing and middle-income countries.

Overseas project sponsors and U.S. companies are invited to propose project preparation activities for USTDA’s grant funding support, including feasibility studies, technical assistance, and pilot projects, that advance the Agency’s dual mission of promoting U.S. jobs through exports and sustainable infrastructure in emerging markets.

USTDA’s Acting Director, Enoh Being said through the call for proposals, the agency intends to support climate-smart energy and transportation projects that create good-paying U.S. jobs and support the development of clean, quality infrastructure overseas.

President Joe Biden, during the launch of an initiative at the Leaders Summit on Climate, said the nations that work together to invest in the cleaner economy will reap the rewards.

In this regard, the USTDA seeks a wide range of clean energy proposals in areas including but not limited to large-scale renewable energy, energy storage, green hydrogen, advanced nuclear technologies, distributed renewable energy, energy efficiency, smart grid, carbon capture, and storage, and industrial decarbonization projects.

USTDA also says it seeks a wide range of clean transportation proposals in areas including but not limited to sustainable ports and maritime transportation, zero-emissions shipping, electrification of surface transportation, intelligent transportation systems, sustainable alternative fuels, sustainable aviation, clean mass transit, and modal shifting.

The Agency however noted that it will evaluate each initial proposal to assess the strength of the offeror, as well as the project’s potential for U.S. exports, financing and implementation, and relevance to its Global Climate Partnerships
