The talent of Nigerians in Diaspora will be optimally utilised as the United States Government makes concerted effort to boost its economic contributions and reshape Nigeria’s infrastructure development.
The group of the President’s Advisory Council on African Diaspora Engagement (PAC-ADE) who made the stand known in an exclusive interview with ait.live in Abuja said Nigerians in the Diaspora must be integral part of a reformed Country considering their immense contribution to host countries.
The PAC-ADE visit to Nigeria is the first visit to the continent since its establishment, highlighting the significance of the bilateral relationship with Nigeria and the impact of the Nigerian in diaspora
Almaz Negash is the founder of African Diaspora Network, an organisation with mission informing and engaging Africans in Diaspora and fostering direct collaboration with social entrepreneurs, innovators, and business leaders.
The concern of the organisation is the proper utilization of diaspora remittance in the development of Nigeria
Others praised the engaging discussions with the Nigerian government and expressed optimism about future collaborations.
They also assured Nigerians that the PAC – ADE project has come to stay no matter the direction of the forth coming election in the United States.
The visit by PAC-ADE, established by President Biden in 2023, highlights the significance of bilateral relations and the impact of the Nigerian diaspora.
The council’s efforts aim to strengthen the African diaspora’s role in economic and social development, with a focus on initiatives such as student exchanges, policy support, climate-focused initiatives, improved visa processes, and investments in creative industries.
The partnership between Nigeria and the US has the potential to enhance economic contributions and promote STEM education partnerships, as seen in the historic Framework of Cooperation signed between the US and Kenya in May 2024.
