Troops Neutralise Terrorists, Recover Ammunition in Kaduna

Troops from the 1st Division of the Nigerian Army have successfully engaged and neutralised some terrorists during a clearance operation in the areas of Sabon Birni, Dogon Dawa, Maidaro, Ngede Alpha and Rafin Kaji.

A statement by Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 1st Division, the troops encountered terrorist elements during the operation, leading to a firefight.

The soldiers overpowered the terrorists, neutralising one, while others fled with suspected gunshot wounds. 

The operation resulted in the recovery of critical items, including four AK-47 magazines, with three fully loaded, with a total of 60 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and one empty magazine, a PKT belt with 86 rounds of ammunition, two motorcycles, (one destroyed), a Tecno mobile phone, a Baofeng handheld radio and an Airtel recharge card valued at 5,000 Naira.

Major General Mayirenso Lander Saraso, the General Officer Commanding, (GOC) 1st Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation WHIRL PUNCH, praised the troops for their successful operation.

He called on them to intensify their efforts to make life unbearable for the terrorists, insurgents, and their collaborators within the division’s area of responsibility.

Major General Saraso also expressed his gratitude to the people of Kaduna, Kano, Niger, and Jigawa States, for their continued cooperation.

He encouraged them to use the division’s toll-free line, “0800 002 0204,” to provide actionable intelligence and information, which will support the military and other security agencies, in their efforts against criminal elements.
