DEMOLITION THREAT: Over 7000 Traders At Zuba Livestock Market To Be Evicted

Over seven thousand traders at the Zuba Livestock Market in Gwagwalada area council of the Federal Capital Territory will be thrown out of business if the demolition threats by the council Chairman, Abubakar Jibrin Giri is allowed to pull through.

Members of the market who spoke told AIT during a peaceful protest at the market that the demolition is capable of aggravating the already complicated security challenges facing the FCT and the entire country.

Zuba Livestock Market in Gwagwalada area council is one of the largest livestock markets in the Federal Capital Territory.

The livestock market hosts over seven thousand shops servicing the livestock and food needs of the people in the FCT and the neighboring states.

Despite the huge revenue generated from the market by the Gwagwalada area council, the council administration is threatening to demolish the market.

The traders are therefore, calling on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike and President Bola Tinubu to call the administration of Gwagwalada area council to order.

The Zuba Livestock Market which has been in existence for over thirty years, and the shops were allocated to the traders by the then minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Major General Jeremiah Husseini( rtd) to Cater to the food and livestock needs of the people of the FCT.
