The Agriculture Correspondents Association of Nigeria, ACAN is deeply saddened by the death of its former Chairman, John Oba.
A statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, Juliana Agbo, says until his death, Oba was a staff of Blueprint Newspaper and was the Chairman of ACAN between 2016 and 2023.
According to the statement, Oba was more than just an exceptional journalist, he was a devoted Christian, advocate for truth and justice, and committed to bringing important stories to limelight throughout his career.
The statement further reads that, “his legacy is one of journalistic excellence, unwavering integrity, and a steadfast commitment to serving the public good”.
Noting that beyond his role as an Agriculture correspondent, Oba was a passionate farmer who believed that reporting on Agriculture without firsthand farming experience was a missed opportunity. He was an outstanding father and a husband.
ACAN condoles with his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time as the loss of such a distinguished professional is profoundly felt by all members of the Association.
