Some residents of Abuja say trekking to their various offices and destinations remains the only option left for them as they cannot afford the current transportation fares caused by the recent hike in the pump price of PMS.

The residents told AIT crew monitoring the situation and its impact on the workforce on Thursday in Abuja, that some domestic workers have abandoned their duties due to both the hike in petrol price and the scarcity of the product in and around the territory.

Many people were seen walking along major roads in the city to their various destinations.

The recent hike in the pump price of PMS and the accompanying scarcity of the product have combined to make life pretty difficult for Nigerians who have continued to call on the authorities to take some pro-people measures to alleviate their sufferings.

Those who spoke to AIT crew said that from all indications, it appears the federal government and its relevant agencies are not listening to the pleas and cries of the citizens. According to them, a listening government will necessarily elicit the opinions of the citizens before introducing policies likely to have negative effects on their income and general well being.

They however said they would continue to appeal to President Bola Tinubu and his government to think out of the box and do the needful as the current hardship in the country has become unbearable, especially in the area of transportation and feeding.
