The recently reconstructed Uwessan-Ujaghole-Irrua road in Esan Central and former Union bank road in Igueben Local Government Area have been commissioned.

Speaking at the commissioning of both roads, Governor Obaseki who renamed Union Bank road after former foreign affairs minister, Tom Ikimi noted the economic benefits of the roads rebuilt and completed in fulfilment of promises he made.

The Uwessan-Ujaghole-Irrua road is a major link road for indigenes of Esan Central which was abandoned for many years.

Governor Godwin Obaseki recalls difficulties experienced on the road when he needed to follow it on campaigns in 2016 and 2020.

The experience on both occasions acted as a catalyst for its rehabilitation and completion.

To show their appreciation, the people dressed him with a traditional attire to reflect that he is a warrior of the locality and an elder.

As they recount the challenges endured over the years, their feelings of relief and joy could be felt by all present.

In a similar development, the Governor also inspected another link road reconstructed by his administration in Igueben.

Formerly known as Union Bank road, it is renamed after Nigeria’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs who hails from the area.

A greatful Tom Ikimi performed the commissioning.

The happy indigenes commended Obaseki for making their communities come alive with the reconstruction of the road.
