As part of his administration’s determination to comply with the recent Supreme Court judgement on local government autonomy, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has said the state would no longer appoint a commissioner in charge of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

He noted that the move will reduce the cost of governance, for quality service delivery.

The governor said this during the inauguration of three newly appointed Commissioners and his Chief Security Adviser at the State Government House.

It was a combined session of the state’s Executive Council meeting and the inauguration of newly appointed political appointees.

After the inauguration, Governor Bala Mohammed said the occasion became necessary to fill in the gap created as a result of the voluntary retirements of three commissioners to enable the affected local government areas to have representations in the cabinet, as required by the constitution.

The newly sworn-in commissioners include, Zainab Baban Takko, Ministry of Women Affairs, Sani Mohammed, Ministry of Health, while Mohammed Abdulkadir takes charge of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Ahmed Abdul Rahman was sworn in as Chief Security Adviser to the Governor.

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Zainab Baban Takko assured of their maximum loyalty and support to the administration to enable it succeed in delivering the dividends of democracy to the teeming citizens of the state.
