The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) has accused the government of failure to implement N25,000 six month wage awards to pensioners for dragging to review pensions by 110%, following N70,000 approved minimum wage for workers in the country.

NUP President, Godwin Abumisi, at a Media briefing in Abuja, laments the strangulating economic realities as a result of hike in fuel pump price and appealed to President Bola Tinubu to review some of his government’s anti-people policies.

On the non-review of pensions of first bank retirees in the last 15 years, with pensioners recieving as low as N4,500 monthly, the pensioners body calls for prompt action by the management to save the lives of senior citizens, most of whom they say have died for lack of adequate care

The pensioners are also appealing to the management of first bank to implement the 5% holding to retirees, while raising alarm that over N300 billion pension funds have also been mismanaged, leaving retirees to wallow in penury.
