Rofiat Imuran came close to giving Falconets the lead early in the game, but Akane Okuma, the Japanese goalkeeper, saved her effort.

Susu Amano’s goal effort was denied by the post four minutes from time as the Japanese fought to increase the scoreline
Olusola Shobowale however reduced the deficit for Nigeria in added time.

The Falconets put up a good fight but were unable to get back into the game
The Nigerian girls came into the clash with a loss to Germany and two victories against the Korean Republic and Venezuela.

Japan on the other hand beat Austria, Ghana, and New Zealand in style to top their group.
Japan will now face Spain in the quarter-finals on Sunday, September 15th.
