100 abducted persons rescued in Zamfara

One hundred abducted persons in Zamfara state have been rescued by the Police in collaboration with the state’s Ministry for Security and Home Affairs.

The women among them, who are mostly nursing mothers, were kidnapped on the 8th of June, at Manawa village of Dansadau District, in Maru Local Government Area of the State.

Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Shehu said, the kidnapped persons were released by the bandits unconditionally. He told journalists that since the 70 women and 30 men, the police have been working round the clock to rescue them.

Shehu said, the adoption of the carrot and stick approach, resulted in the release of the 100 abductees. The rescued persons will be screened medically to ensure they are in a stable physical, emotional and psychological condition before being reunited with their families.


The Special Adviser to the Governor of Zamfara State on Security Matters, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mamman Tsafe who received the kidnap victims on behalf of the governor, appreciated the efforts of the Police and other security agencies, at restoring peace and stability in the state.
