Gov Fubara Calls On Judges To Be Upright As Rivers State 2024-2025 Legal Year Begins

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has called on Judicial officers in the State to be representatives of God on earth by being honest and fair when administering justice, warning that every evil or miscarriage of justice will surely be paid for one day.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark the opening of the 2024-2025 Rivers State legal year, Governor Fubara who vowed never to compromise any judge, said he will defend the course of justice with everything, including his last breath.

To kick start the new legal year, members of the Bench and the Bar were at the church to give gratitude to God and seek his support and guidance.

Also in attendance were members of the State Executive Council and Legislators, led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The Governor wants judges to continue to be truthful and fair while administering justice.

Governor Fubara is also using the occasion to speak on issues that concern him, chief among them is the attempt by some persons to destroy the institution of governance in Rivers State.

He also frowned at the actions of some senior lawyers whom he accused of fueling crisis in the State.

While calling on judicial officers in the State to remain strong even in the face of unwarranted attacks, the Governor assures that he will continue to respect the autonomy and independence of the judiciary.

Governor Fubara further called on the people to join hands to build a united, peaceful and prosperous Rivers State.
