Management of Air Peace has debunked an online report, stating that its Ilorin bound B737-500 aircraft with registration number 5N-BQR from Abuja, was involved in a crash in Ilorin, around 10am on July 23, 2021.

Management of the airline (Air peace) said the aircraft in question landed safely but had a minimal tyre burst while taxing.

The report according to the management of Air Peace in a statement made available to ait.live was misrepresented and exaggerated.

“Our aircraft neither crashed nor crash-landed in Ilorin or in any place for that matter. This kind of sensationalism is bad and was intended to cause panic in the minds of the flying public.”

“The incident was reported to the authorities and passengers disembarked seamlessly. The tyres have, however, been fixed and aircraft is intact. We condemn sensational publication of falsehood.”

Management further said it is committed to providing peaceful connectivity across cities and relentlessly observes the highest standards of safety in its operations.

In a related development, the Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, has corroborated the statement made by the management of Air Peace saying contrary to reports of a plane crash in Ilorin, there was nothing of such

The AIB in a release by its General Manager Public Affairs, Tunji Oketunbi, noted that the B737-500, had a burst tyre on landing roll.

The AIB confirmed that an incident involving Airpeace B737 -500 occurred on Friday in Illorin at about 10.30am.

AIB noted that safety investigators did an evaluation of the occurrence and decided not to investigate.

He further stated that the aircraft has been released to Airpeace and attributed the delay in opening the airport to the recovery of the aircraft from the Runway by Federal airports authority of Nigeria FAAN and Air Peace.

The agency charged media practitioners to verify every information before going to press.
