Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke on Monday, visited areas affected by the communal clashes in Ilobu, Ifon and Erin Osun communities, and condemned the large-scale destruction of properties.

Adeleke lamented that such a crisis would give the entire State a negative image and affect the drive to attract investors and boost the State’s economy.

The violence that broke out following the boundary disputes between Ifon and Ilobu communities in the early hours of Friday, spread to Erin-Osun on Saturday, forcing the State government to review an earlier 12-hour curfew, to 24-hour movement restriction in the affected towns.

The troubled communities appear now silent as the streets are deserted. Residents were displaced as many homes were reduced to ashes, in the dispute communities of Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun.

Governor Ademola Adeleke who arrived the affected areas with security chiefs and inspected the devastation, described the crisis as worrisome.

He urged the communities to come together and unite for development to thrive in the area again.

AIT online reports that the exact casualty figure has not been determined by the Police authorities, even as the 24-hour curfew on the three communities persists, with security operatives strategically located around the areas.
