A 300 level university student in Katsina State and another suspect have been arrested by the police for allegedly abducting a 5-year-old boy who is a cousin to one of the suspects and demanding N5 million ransom.

Police spokesperson in Katsina State, SP Gambo Isah, while parading the duo, alongside 5 other suspects, gave their names as Aliyu Ibrahim and Abdulrahman Abdullahi, both from Dustin-ma Local Government Area of the State.

Isah, while parading the suspects, blamed the actions of the duo on a case of family misunderstanding between the 5-year-old boy’s father and the mother.

He added that the father of the boy when contacted refused to pay the ransom, which he categorically told the abductors, culminating in the investigation, tracking and arrest of the suspects.

Another arrest is that of a suspected teenager on the account of abduction, whose mode of operation was, calling unsuspecting victims and telling them to pay a certain amount of money, or risk being abducted.

Others are the arrest of 28-year-old Sayyadi Iliya from Kaduna State, suspected to be a notorious informant of bandits and arms dealer, and the recovery of 113 rounds of 7.62mm of Ak 47 rifle at Kurami village of Bakori Local Government Area.

Isah said the suspect confessed to have been sent by Shuaibu Naburunje to deliver the same to a suspected bandit, Umaru Kwai, in Faskari Forest.

The police image maker also added that the State Command arrested a suspected 25-year-old, Abubakar Mannir, and another 19-year-old Junaidu Ado, who are suspected notorious armed bandits, who specialized in terrorizing the residents of Safana Local Government Area.

He also said another 21-year-old Isiyaku Haruna, a suspected notorious bandit alleged to have killed 2 persons, was arrested.

Isah said the suspect confessed to have worked with telecommunications service providers, fixing their masts but was introduced to another bandits leader in Zamfara forest, where he has been operating for 3 years.

He added that the successes recorded by the police against bandits are attributed to the security containment order signed by the Governor, which is making the forest very hot for the bandits.

The police image maker said all the suspects will be charged to court at the end of investigations.
