Developing Technology: Nasarawa State Govt. signs joint venture agreement with Private Firm

The Nasarawa State government and a private firm have signed a joint venture agreement, for the establishment of the Nasarawa Technology Village, in Aso-Pada, Karu Local Government Area.

The agreement, estimated at 22 Billion naira, was signed during a ceremony in Lafia the state capital after signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the government and representatives of the firm, State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, said the Nasarawa Technology Village was conceived in line with the idea behind the Silicon Valley in California and is aimed at attracting major international IT firms to the state.

Sule explained that the partnership for the project, followed a rigorous evaluation and assessment process, with the investors injecting over N20bn in the project.

Sule instructed the firm to commence work at the project site immediately the proposed technology village is sitting on a 66000 hectares of land, comprising of a tech hub and high-rise housing scheme, comprising blocks of 2&3 bedroom bungalows, as well as 1&2 bedroom flats, making a total of 1500 housing units, located on 10 hectares of land.

The entire project is expected to provide 15000 direct jobs, as well as 60, 000 indirect jobs.
