Tackling Insecurity in Schools: FG sues for support from parents

The Federal Government is appealing to parents and community leaders to support government in it’s effort to tackle the dangers posed to school students by evolving strategies that can curtail activities of bandits and kidnappers who target schools.

The minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, said this in a message delivered in Lafia the state capital during the flag- off of a 3 day workshop for education secretaries from the 774 local government areas in the country.

Records show that Nigeria has the largest number of out of school children in the world.

Different federal and state government administrations have worked to reduce the number. One of such initiatives is called the better education service delivery for all being implemented by the Universal Basic Education commission.

The Education Minister in his message delivered on his behalf noted that it has become very necessary to improve the capacity of education secretaries across the country to perform optimally in line with current trends in the country.

Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Commission, Hamid Bobboyi, said with the important role education secretaries play in school administration there was need to sustain the engagements to ensure safer schools

The host Governor, Abdullahi Sule, said he aligns with the federal government on the need to train and retrain teachers in the state.

The current training of education secretaries is being carried out in all the six geopolitical zones of the country.
