Work activities in State government owned Ministries, Departments and agencies were on standstill in Calabar, Tuesday as organised Labour in the state commenced an indefinite industrial action.
When Our correspondent visited some of the ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government, including Courts, they were under lock and key with union executives on patrol to monitor the areas.

Some of the workers who spoke on the strike action, said non-implementation of the full 27.5% teachers enhancement allowance, promotions, deductions, and N30,000 minimum wage among others led to the strike.
A retired Civil Servant, Emmanuel Ene, called on the State government to immediately look into the matter, saying the state economy is affected with the action of the workers.
Cross River State Government led by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Ivara Esu is currently meeting with the top government official and labour leaders to agree on modalities to either call off or suspend the strike.
