Wase to initiate legislative measures on misdiagnosis

The Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Ahmed Idris Wase has promised to initiate legislative measures in the 9th National Assembly session to reduce the high number of misdiagnosis of patients across the country.

Wase made the promise in Abuja when he received a delegation of the federal school of medical laboratory technology science, under the ministry of health said many innocent Nigerians have lost their lives through such carelessness and miscarriage of medical reports.

Earlier, the provost of the medical laboratory institution, Sunday Etukudoh urged the National assembly to begin work on the proposed amendment of the federal school of medical laboratory technician science, Jos (Establishment) act 2018 as soon as it is presented to the whole house to fast track the development of medical laboratory practices in the country to match the international standard. 

Etukudoh said Nigerians are looking forward to the present leadership of the National Assembly to impact positively on their lives and the nation’s economy and hoped that the confidence given to legislators by the people will be a source of great inspiration to promote accountability and transparency.

He also appeales to the lawmakers to intervene for the school to benefits from various intervention activities of TETFund and others to fill the wide Gap in essential areas of physical infrastructure, ICT, programmes, reasearch and educational support services.

The research institution clarified that it is not a monotechnic school as perceived by many but a complete medical laboratory school of science sets to be outstanding in promoting the health sector.

Part of requests in the proposed amendment act is to change name of the school from the federal school of medical laboratory technology science to ” Federal college of medical laboratory science” to aid fair operationalization of it’s mandate with national and international universities across the globe.
